The PYR House, designed by Cazú Zegers Arquitectura, is strategically located in Panguipulli, Chile, a site presenting unique challenges such as a steep cliff and the positioning of the sun. The architecture draws inspiration from the word 'pyrite', embodying strength and warmth, offering a grounding element. A central staircase connects the various levels of this three-story home, reflecting the cubic form of pyrite and enhancing spatial dynamics. The building's materials were selectively chosen, with heavy concrete on the lower levels for moisture protection and lighter materials above, achieving a balance that enables it to stand resilient yet light against its stunning natural backdrop.
The PYR House is a testament to innovative design, harmonizing with its challenging cliffside environment while using materials like concrete, metal, and wood.
Inspired by the mineral pyrite, the architectural concept of the PYR House showcases how unique environmental challenges were embraced creatively to enhance functionality.
