The disruption began at 11:44am ET and lasted until 1:01pm ET, also impacting Wallet, Apple Card, and Apple Cash. Although Apple acknowledged the issue, they did not specify the number of users affected. During the outage, many users reported payment failures, especially in major US cities. The issue not only inconvenienced individual users but also affected applications dependent on Apple Pay, such as ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft, leading to significant public frustration.
