Are Those Drones Over New Jersey? Sightings Mount, and Still No Answers.
Briefly

New Jersey has experienced a surge in mysterious drone sightings with nearly 50 reported in one night, causing concern among officials and lawmakers. Since mid-November, multiple counties in New Jersey and parts of New York City report similar activity. While the FAA has banned drone flights over specific areas linked to notable figures and military installations, investigations reveal that the uptick in drone sightings is unexplained and not related to military operations.
Timothy Rider, a public affairs specialist, noted that the visibility of eleven drones near the Picatinny Arsenal has heightened concerns, yet clarified that this activity is not linked to any military operations from the base.
F.B.I. Assistant Director Robert Wheeler expressed uncertainty about the origin of the reported drones, stating, "We just don't know, and that's the concerning part." However, he alleviated fears by affirming that there was no credible threat to public safety.
Governor Philip D. Murphy echoed the sentiments of law enforcement regarding safety concerns, stating previously that they have no reason to believe these drone sightings pose a public threat, despite the heightened visibility.
