Apple is updating its mobile operating systems to comply with the EU's Digital Markets Act, allowing more non-Apple default apps and enabling users to delete built-in apps.
The new Default Apps section will allow iPhones and iPads in the EU to set defaults for phone calls, messaging, and managing passwords, alongside existing default options.
The revised browser choice screen will provide EU users with additional information about third-party browsers, enabling seamless switching from Safari to the selected browser.
With these updates, only Settings and Phone will remain as non-deletable apps, broadening user control over device customization in compliance with new regulations.
