As the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalated last September, Abed Al Kadiri, an artist in Kuwait, felt compelled to return to Lebanon to support his family and contribute to rebuilding efforts. The war has led to widespread suffering in his hometown of Beirut, deeply affecting his mental health with panic attacks and nightmares. The diaspora, significantly larger than Lebanon's population, has started to come back in a bid to provide physical and financial aid to the war-torn nation, facing one of its bloodiest conflicts in decades.
Mr. Al Kadiri, 40, said on a recent morning in the outskirts of Beirut. Going back was the only best option.
He began having nightmares and panic attacks and was unable to sleep. Determined to support his family and help his country rebuild.
