Ben Pentreath, a British architect and interior designer, has gained popularity for his unique approach that blends traditional English decoration with a relaxed and colorful style. He believes in a gradual evolution of spaces, evident in his own London apartment, where he began with a blank canvas and gradually incorporated furniture finds from auctions and shops. This organic development extends to his professional work, where he leaves room for future furniture and accessories, crafting spaces that feel warm and inviting rather than overly polished.
Mr. Pentreath prizes throw cushions made with interesting, eye-catching textiles. Some I've had for years, some I've just bought, some I've been given, he said.
When I first moved in I just painted the walls white and brought in existing furniture that I already had. Then I slowly started to get bits and pieces of furniture.
