Why Gen X Women Are Having the Best Sex
Briefly

After a divorce at 46, the author discovered a newfound freedom and sexual vitality she never expected. Despite facing challenges like raising young children and managing chronic illnesses, moving back to her hometown and the onset of the pandemic allowed her to explore her sexuality without the past's constraints. With the context of changing societal norms in the 2020s, the author reflects on how maturity brought about increased self-love and confidence, reinforcing the idea that many women of her generation share a similar story of rediscovery in midlife.
Returning to plentiful sex in my late 40s felt weirdly intuitive, like hearing an old favorite song and finding that I still knew all the words.
I found that I was better at sex, and that this was because I was older. I had fewer inhibitions, fewer hangups and more self-love.
Everything that remained felt like a privilege: There was desire, and there was the ability to fulfill it.
What I have been doing privately is part of something bigger – a story that somehow belongs to my generation, particularly the women of my generation.
