$24 million land deal creates 7-mile long corridor of protected redwood forests to the ocean
Briefly

In a significant move for environmental conservation, the Save the Redwoods League is acquiring a 1,517-acre scenic redwood forest for $24 million. This purchase will form an integral part of a 7-mile unbroken chain of protected parks from the mountains to the ocean in Sonoma County. Encompassing 20 miles of trails and breathtaking views, this land enhances connectivity between Sonoma Coast State Park and Monte Rio Redwoods Regional Park. It marks a crucial milestone in wildlife preservation and has been in private ownership for over two decades.
This is the missing puzzle piece in the whole landscape there. There are open pastures and meadows that look out across to the coastline.
We have worked to preserve this area for 25 years. It's just a really special place. It's a huge part of larger connectivity for wildlife.
