The original area of Jimtown, a valley at the edge of the Mayacamas Mountains, was founded by James "Jim" Patrick. In 1856, at the age of 2, his parents traveled from Iowa with him and his brother via oxen-drawn wagon and settled in Santa Rosa.
"It is very encouraging to see progress," said Supervisor Lynda Hopkins, chair of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. "This year's count reflects the tireless dedication of County staff, the Continuum of Care volunteers and our community partners, people who are showing up every day to do the hard, human work of addressing homelessness."
Sonoma County's vineyards are famous, but small farmers are critical to its agricultural identity. The rising cost of land challenges their survival, prompting new initiatives for assistance.
