Authorities say they found a ladder and burglary tools indicative of someone trying to break into a building on 22nd Street, via a back entrance accessible on 21st street.
Lewis got a ride to a hospital but died later that morning, authorities said. A motive for the shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been announced.
