This week in Oakland: The Paranormal Cirque circus, and the Reel Queer Flix short films screening
Briefly

Multiple notable Bay Area events are scheduled, including the long-awaited HIERO Day festival relocating to San Francisco and a short-run of Paranormal Cirque featuring aerial theatrics and gory costumes. The Worst Film Festival presents brief screenings of imperfect projects with candid filmmaker Q&A and an emphasis on creative vulnerability. Valentino Carrillo is opening Next Level, an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Old Oakland described as a sanctuary for all genders and orientations. Additional community events include the Xicana Power Block Party, a Pride outdoor screening of To Wong Foo, and the Bay Area Queer Zine Fest. Event submissions can be emailed or added via a self-submission form.

The organizers describe the festival as "a celebration of the messy middle - the beautifully imperfect work that shapes us."
Grand opening of the new LGBTQ+ nightclub Next Level Valentino Carrillo, owner of the LGBTQ+ bar Que Rico, is expanding with the opening of Next Level, a new space in Old Oakland that formerly housed Level 13. According to Valentino, Next Level "sets out to become a sanctuary where every individual, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, or background, can feel safe, celebrated,"
