The Cook's Seafood sign has been tempting Pleasanton diners for 7 long years. The restaurant is finally opening next week.
Briefly

Cook's Seafood, a beloved Menlo Park restaurant, is set to open in Pleasanton after a long seven-year wait since its announcement in 2018. The restaurant chose a strategic location off Interstate 680, expecting to serve fresh seafood, particularly known for its Alaskan halibut fish and chips. Originally expected to open in spring 2018, delays due to the pandemic and other unforeseen circumstances led to a prolonged wait. However, excitement remains high among potential diners eager for authentic seafood experiences in Pleasanton.
Seven years is a long time to wait for a fabulous fresh seafood meal. But it turns out that diners can bank on the Pleasanton promise made by Cook's Seafood, a Menlo Park mainstay for almost a century.
In February 2018, the restaurant's 90th birthday year, the Crumrine ownership family announced they would expand for the first time, selecting a space on Bernal Road just off Interstate 680.
In the restaurant, the fish and chips are a big hit with customers because the battered fish is Alaskan halibut, not the more common cod or haddock.
Meanwhile, the Pleasanton sign went up, and there it stayed, tempting foodies for years. In 2020, an opening appeared imminent, but that didn’t happen during the pandemic year.
