College isn't dead to Gen Z yet. Enrollment just hit a post-pandemic high
Briefly

In fall 2024, US college enrollment rose 4.5%, exceeding pre-pandemic levels for the first time, with about 19 million students enrolled. Undergraduate enrollment reached nearly 16 million, while graduate numbers approached 3 million. The National Student Clearinghouse Research Center corrected a previous methodological error that miscounted freshmen, revealing a 5.5% increase in overall freshmen, particularly in community colleges. Notably, enrollment among Black and Hispanic students has increased for three years, while white student enrollment slightly rose after previous declines.
This fall, the data showed overall freshmen had an enrollment increase of 5.5%, with the most growth coming from community colleges, and 18-year-old freshmen saw enrollment gains of 3.4%.
