Los Angeles Unified has agreed to a $139,500 settlement for a 16-year-old boy who suffered a broken arm due to an alleged assault by another student.
The plaintiff, a former special-needs student at Roy Romer Middle School, claims negligence by the school for failing to supervise the student who assaulted him.
The lawsuit details a history of disability-based bullying and harassment that the plaintiff faced at Romer Middle School, which allegedly contributed to the attack.
Despite a prior cease-and-desist letter sent regarding the bullying, the school is accused of not providing a safe environment for the student.
