During their intervention, they observed the student concealing an item in the waistband area. The site safety staff identified the item as a firearm, safely removed it, and immediately secured it away from other students and staff. No students or staff were injured during this incident. Vallejo Police officers retrieved the loaded, unregistered firearm from the school staff and rendered it safe.
At approximately 12:45 p.m., that day, officers were notified of a student in possession of a firearm on the campus. Upon arrival, officers learned that the school's site safety staff had already intervened, separated the firearm from the student, and secured the student in a classroom. Officers detained the student without incident and conducted a safety search, confirming that no additional weapons were present.

Parents in Pickering say they're concerned by the way a series of threats at a local elementary school have been handled by administrators in recent weeks, arguing the school needs to improve its communication and safety measures. William Dunbar Public School was placed in a lockdown on Jan. 27, after a threat made by phone against the school. The lockdown was subsequently lowered to a hold and secure after police arrived and assessed the scene, which was lifted at 2:20 p.m.

A public school teacher was arrested for assaulting a 10-year-old student inside a Brooklyn classroom Monday, police said. Moaz Mahmoud, 26, allegedly struck the student in the face before shoving and grabbing him during an argument around 11 a.m. inside Public School 276 on E. 83rd St. near Avenue K in Canarsie, cops said. The teacher was arrested about an hour later for acting in a manner injurious to a child and assault, police said.

A New Hampshire man pleaded guilty Thursday to unlawfully purchasing a semi-automatic pistol for an unlicensed individual who later fired it near a public school and was arrested in connection with a "large-scale car theft enterprise," federal prosecutors said. Hudson police are investigating an apparent swatting incident - prompted by a phone call that may have been AI-generated - that put Hudson High School on lockdown Wednesday morning, Police Chief Richard DiPersio said. Police responded to the high school around 7:55 a.m. after a caller reported that students inside the school were armed. The report was later determined to be unfounded, police said in a press release. The school was placed on lockdown and the building was cleared by police, officials said.
Senate Bill 896, sponsored by state Sen. Don Gaetz (R), is currently being considered for advancement within multiple committees in the Florida Senate. The bill would allow certain employees, faculty, and students to openly carry their personal firearms on campus grounds. Four people, including three children, were injured after a grizzly bear attacked a school group in a remote part of Canada. Two of the injured were in critical condition and two in serious condition, the Health Services Authority said Friday. All four remain hospitalized. A Braintree High School student was charged with with carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds and resisting arrest, among other charges, after allegedly bringing an airsoft gun to school on Monday. Another student reported to the School Resource Officer early on Monday that they had seen a student with a handgun, according to Braintree Police.
