A survey showed that nearly one in five parents believe the cellphone ban negatively affects their child's wellbeing, especially regarding emergency communication.
Erin Gohl, a parent advocate, emphasized the need for students to have access to phones for positive mental health purposes, not just to restrict their usage.
District officials acknowledged inconsistencies in implementing the cellphone policy, noting that some teachers find it challenging to enforce the rules effectively.
