Defending champion Mathieu van der Poel from Alpecin-Deceuninck crashed during the Tour of Flanders, but showed remarkable resilience by quickly getting back on his bike. The crash occurred with 126km to go when a group crash affected several riders. While some, including Tim Wellens and John Degenkolb, remained down, van der Poel was uninjured and attempted to rejoin the peloton by following his teammate Silvan Dillier. However, he found himself at a considerable distance from rivals like Tadej Pogačar and Wout van Aert as the race progressed.
