This decision came amid rising tensions with China, where Trump has indicated a willingness to reduce tariffs in exchange for an agreement on TikTok, used by 170 million Americans. However, a key obstacle remains as the Chinese government has not publicly shown support for the deal, raising concerns about potential enforcement of a ban on the app.
We hope to continue working in good faith with China, who I understand is not very happy about our reciprocal tariffs.
