Jeff Bezos brings Amazon work culture to Blue Origin
Briefly

Since stepping down as Amazon's CEO, Jeff Bezos has become increasingly involved in Blue Origin, focusing on optimized decision-making and technical reviews with his team. Changes in company leadership aim to dismantle previous bureaucratic practices, promoting a more agile culture as the firm seeks to ramp up its launch capabilities. However, challenges persist in leadership transitions, with some analysts noting struggles to find the right timing for changes. The firm is also adjusting work structures, reflecting a more demanding schedule under CEO Bob Limp's direction.
"The transition points were not always right," said Carissa Christensen, chief executive of consultancy BryceTech. "A bit early, a little too late, and sometimes painful."
Several current and former employees said that the company was also removing chains of decision making that had become ingrained in Blue Origin's culture under former chief Bob Smith.
"We wanted to push down decision making," said a former executive, highlighting the need for more decentralized leadership to accommodate the company's rapid growth.
Limp has spoken publicly alongside Bezos about increasing the number of launches this year and reaching the Moon with the company's Blue Moon lunar lander.
