"Asrawi and his family drained their savings and maxed out credit cards to start Texas de Brazil, which now offers over a dozen cuts of meat at each location."
"Nearly 40 years later, Texas de Brazil boasts over 50 locations across the country and is valued at an estimated $300 million, making it a significant player in the steakhouse market."
Texas de Brazil, founded by Salim Asrawi, is the only family-owned steakhouse chain among the top ten in the U.S. Asrawi, a Lebanese immigrant, started the chain in 1988 after being inspired by a Brazilian steakhouse. The family invested all their savings and credit to launch the business, which has since grown to over 50 locations and is valued at around $300 million. Other major steak chains are typically owned by large restaurant groups, with Texas Roadhouse being publicly traded since 2004.
