Chef Keith Sarasin founded Aatma Curry House inside Widowmaker Brewing Co. in Brighton and brings decades of immersion in Indian cuisine. The menu emphasizes high-quality Indian dishes with fusion influences and includes a glossary of Indian terms to educate diners. Signature dishes include Indira's dal, a slow-cooked lentil stew with onions, green chiles, and ajwain; fried idli chaat with hand-ground dried chiles and tamarind-ginger chutney over yogurt; and the Aatma burger, a masala-seasoned American smash burger with achari onions and amul cheese. House-made masala chai and a mango lassi with rose syrup complete the offerings. Widowmaker hosts free trivia on Tuesdays.
"Chef Keith Sarasin - the founder and chef of pop-up restaurant the Farmer's Dinner, who grew up in New Hampshire - has been immersing himself in the art of Indian food for decades. And Boston benefits from his dedication to the culinary culture at Aatma Curry House, a new restaurant inside Brighton brewery Widowmaker Brewing Co. Here, he endeavors to make high-quality Indian food with fusion flavors, while educating diners about the cuisine with a glossary of Indian terms in the menu."
"Indira's dal ($13) is the recipe that launched Sarasin's love of Indian food. Named after one of his early mentors, the slow-cooked lentil stew made with onions, green chiles, and ajwain (an herb similar to oregano) is flavorful but not overpoweringly spicy. For a street food spin, try the fried idli chaat ($15). The idlis (steamed rice cakes) are fried, coated in hand-ground dried chiles, and drizzled with a tamarind-ginger chutney. They're served on top of creamy yogurt with fresh cilantro."
