"Ten years of feeding people we love. Ten years of regulars who became family, neighbors who became friends, and first-timers who somehow always found their way back. Ten years of memories made over babka, hot chicken, wings, beer, trivia, late nights, early mornings, and everything in between."
"What a ride it's been."
"To our guests: thank you for choosing us, supporting us, celebrating with us, and letting us be part of your lives for a full decade."
Mekelburg's, a Brooklyn market and restaurant, will close its Williamsburg location on Jan. 1, ending nearly a decade of operation. The final location occupied a 4,000-square-foot space at 319 Kent Ave. near Domino Park after an original Clinton Hill shop launched in 2015 and closed last year. Mekelburg's built a following for curated specialty goods, stacked sandwiches, comfort dishes such as "Mek and Cheese" and Nana's Meatloaf, craft beer, and regular community events. No explanation for the closure was provided. The closure joins other recent Brooklyn business shutdowns amid the city's difficult economic climate.
