Paris launches daily pool changing room inspections after men caught filming women
Briefly

In Paris, a series of voyeurism incidents at public swimming pool changing rooms has prompted city officials to take urgent action. Following complaints from women, including journalist Laurene Daycard, who reported a man filming her while she changed, an audit of all municipal pools has been initiated. This audit aims to identify vulnerabilities that could facilitate such acts. Since the onset of these incidents, at least 17 similar reports have surfaced, and the city is prioritizing safety measures for women in public spaces.
Paris has launched an urgent hunt for spy cameras and peepholes in public swimming pool changing rooms after multiple complaints from women about men filming them.
Ms. Daycard reported that after her assailant was arrested, police informed her the man confessed to filming women and very young girls without their consent.
In response to the incidents, Paris will audit all 40 municipal pools to identify structural vulnerabilities and conduct daily inspections for voyeurism.
Women must be able to feel safe and secure in public spaces, and the city is taking steps to restore that sense of safety.
