Patine offers precise, generous dishes at a fair price, despite a bare atmosphere and settling service.
The goal was to make the island feel as light and sculptural as possible, rather than a heavy, traditional centerpiece. The integrated lamp accentuates this sense of lightness, enhancing the island's sculptural quality.
Before, it was very dark. We created a system to make use of the low-ceilinged space under the roof. It allowed us to incorporate plenty of storage, as well as the apartment's service elements.
Corentin Roudaut, who once felt overwhelmed by Paris's traffic, found renewed confidence in cycling after the establishment of a segregated bike lane on Boulevard Voltaire. He now actively participates in promoting cycling in the city, witnessing a remarkable transformation in urban mobility and safety over the last decade.
Endo Kazutoshi was on the train to Paris when he heard about the fire that had destroyed his restaurant, Endo at the Rotunda, located on the eighth floor of the Helios building. The fire had started on a terrace and quickly spread, affecting the dining room and kitchen, built mostly from 200-year-old hinoki wood.
"This project is symbolic of what we've done over the last 12 years, reshaping the streets and the city," Christophe Najovski, the city's deputy mayor in charge of green spaces, stated during the opening ceremony.
The creative output of that tribe was so immense, and their bohemian adventures so inspiring, that I wrote and published a historical novel, The Ashtrays Are Full and the Glasses Are Empty featuring many figures from the Lost Generation.
The foundation's collection is exceptionally large, encompassing more than 10,000 items-including thousands of drawings, over 400 sculptures, 100 paintings, a whole collection of decorative objets d'art, prints, everything that was in the studio, all the archives. Most of the collection has never been exhibited.
Paris is a city designed for strolling, with its grand boulevards, photogenic buildings, and hundreds of beautifully manicured parks. My biggest mistake on my first trip to Paris? I packed the wrong footwear. I visited in late May and brought an overstuffed suitcase of strappy sandals and heels. After a day of rain (leading to chafing and blisters), I popped into a few shops in the Marais and purchased comfortable sneakers and ankle boots that I wore on repeat for the rest of the trip.
Musée d'Orsay hosted an exhibit last year called "Art is in the Street," which cataloged "the spectacular rise of the illustrated poster in Paris during the second half of the 19th century." The prints were lithographs - drawings made on limestone with greasy pencils, which were then exposed to water and inverted onto sheets of paper. Typically, each color got its own stone. The finished product was a firework of oily yellows and reds.
We'd been dreaming of a girls' trip for the past two years, but nothing had ever materialized because of our clashing schedules. Luckily, though, we finally found a time when we were both available. Because we aren't huge planners, we were excited about the idea of a last-minute trip. After a truly exhilarating week, here are three things I enjoyed about the experience and three I'd do differently next time.
Though it's easily forgotten in our age of air travel and instantaneous global communication, many a great city is located where it is because of a river. That holds true everywhere from London to Buenos Aires to Tokyo to New York - and even to Los Angeles, despite its own once-uncontrollable river having long since been turned into a much-ridiculed concrete drainage channel.
I spent the first half of 2025 in Paris, and while I loved living in a walkable city overflowing with art and culture, I often found myself craving a taste of home. Fortunately, Paris has not one but two Chinatowns: Belleville and the 13th arrondissement. Belleville is an artsy, historically progressive neighborhood shaped by centuries of immigration from Europe, Africa, and Asia. At its center is Parc de Belleville, known for its rotating street art and sweeping sunset views of the Eiffel Tower.
The French weather forecaster Météo France has issued a weather warning for snow on Monday, with snowfalls predicted for Paris and much of western France. A total of 23 départements have been placed on orange alert for snow and ice including the Paris region, Brittany and Normandy and part of the west coast. Météo France is predicting up to 10cm of snow in the coastal areas of Brittany and Normandy, while the greater Paris region could get up to 5cm.
At a moment when independent cinemas across Europe are dimming their lights for good, Louis Denavaut breathes new life into the historic venue of the Elysées Lincoln cinema in Paris, France. The architect creates a sequence of atmospheres for this project, reflected in three distinct interior worlds that are clad in various materials and colors, from hushed velvet greens to saturated pinks and soft pastel tones.
This restructuring project makes it possible to intensify a strong architectural gesture - this briefly describes the basic idea of our Paris office for the renovation of the former, modernist Peugeot headquarters (architects Sainsaulieu) near the Arc de Triomphe. The project offers the central Parisian urban space an exciting 110-metre long facade. In this area, the existing concrete structure forms the backdrop for an innovative window system.
42UP: A Vertical Campus in Paris Redefining Educational Architecture. In the heart of Paris's 17th arrondissement, AR Studio d'Architectures has completed 42UP, a radical extension of Ecole 42 that doubles its capacity while minimizing its footprint. The project transforms 3,600 m into a 9,025 m vertical campus, accommodating 1,400 workstations in an institution operating 24/7, without teachers, without courses, and completely free.
