The world got its first glimpse on Friday of the newly renovated Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, with President Macron showcasing its stunningly clean interior and rebuilt roofing.
Philippe Jost, head of the reconstruction task force, emphasized that the cathedral is being seen like never before after extensive cleaning and rebuilding.
Mr. Macron’s visit aimed to shift focus from the political turmoil in France, highlighting his successful bet to rebuild Notre-Dame within a tight five-year deadline.
Over 450,000 square feet of limestone were meticulously restored, showcasing bright, soaring vaults and thick columns that exhibit the cathedral’s architectural magnificence.
