Walmart has recalled nearly 10,000 cases of Great Value brand apple juice due to harmful levels of inorganic arsenic, affecting products sold in 25 states and Puerto Rico.
The FDA has classified this recall as Class II, indicating potential for temporary adverse health effects, stressing that exposure to high arsenic levels can cause vomiting or diarrhea.
Natural and inorganic arsenic are common in foods, and while both are present, inorganic arsenic is significantly more toxic and can result in serious long-term health issues.
Kelly Hellbusch from Walmart emphasized their commitment to customer safety, confirming the removal of the affected product and stating they are collaborating with the supplier for further investigation.
