Why Freddie Freeman is not with Dodgers on road trip
Briefly

The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently on their first domestic road trip of the 2025 season, but Freddie Freeman is sidelined due to an aggravation of a right ankle injury. Freeman, who had offseason surgery, slipped in the shower and enhanced his soreness, leading the team to place him on a 10-day injured list. Despite encouraging MRI results, manager Dave Roberts opted to keep him off the trip for extra rest to prevent further swelling. Freeman remains optimistic and appreciates that his injury wasn’t more severe.
Even after aggravating his ankle, Freeman remained positive because it wasn't worse and felt he caught a lucky break. 'I could've hit my head or something like that. I'm very thankful it was just a little mishap with my ankle.'
The thought was he could have played, but we just felt that there was potential downside, if we played him, to make it worse... it just made sense for him to stay back.
