The 31st Screen Actors Guild Awards are themed "A Love Letter to Los Angeles" in response to the emotional toll of recent wildfires. Executive Producer Jon Brockett expressed his deepened connection to the city, recognizing both the struggles and the communal support that emerged. Sofia Carson, this year’s SAG Awards Ambassador, highlighted her role in representing the SAG-AFTRA foundation's vital work during these tough times. The ceremony will honor the impacted community, showcasing resilience and unity as central themes.
I'm a longtime Angelino resident and I think we all struggled, whether you were directly impacted by the fires or not, you struggled with the emotion of it. It was really emotional for us to see our fellow residents hurting.
I realized there is so much good here so that helped reshape our thinking about the show and this kind of love letter to L.A. came to us and how we can show the city off in a really beautiful way through community, through resilience, through its determination.
Being a SAG Ambassador is such a beautiful honor. We are the representatives of the SAG-AFTRA foundation at the SAG Awards to shed light onto the work that the foundation is doing, which is now more pivotal than ever as our city has been aching from these devastating wildfires.
Our show on Sunday will be dedicated to each and every single member of our community that has been affected and it's beautiful.
