"actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident."
"Hate is never tolerated in Boston. Our thoughts go out to the two victims, and we ask anyone with information to contact Boston Police. The BPD Civil Rights Division is investigating this incident thoroughly."
Two men were walking toward a convenience store in Mattapan at about 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 13 when a group of men shouted homophobic slurs and someone swung an object believed to be a baseball bat. One victim was struck in the back of the head, found bleeding in the parking lot, and rushed to Beth Israel Hospital. No arrests were made and no condition update has been released. The Boston Police Department released images of alleged suspects and said detectives are actively reviewing the facts. The BPD Civil Rights Division is investigating and requests public tips via the Civil Rights Unit or CrimeStoppers.
