The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) took suo motu cognisance of Rapido's 'Guaranteed Auto' and 'AUTO IN 5 MIN OR GET ₹ 50' campaigns and found them misleading under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The CCPA noted the advertisements ran for about 548 days across more than 120 cities and were disseminated in multiple regional languages. Rapido was directed to discontinue the misleading advertisements immediately and to ensure compensation to affected consumers. The CCPA imposed a penalty of Rs 10,00,000 on Rapido for publishing misleading advertisements and engaging in unfair trade practices.
