Pauline Quirke, renowned for her role in the sitcom 'Birds of a Feather,' has retired from acting following a dementia diagnosis revealed by her husband. Quirke was a prominent figure in film and television, founding the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts, which serves over 15,000 students. Her husband praised her contributions and legacy in the arts, emphasizing her desire for privacy as the family navigates this difficult personal challenge while continuing to honor her educational work through PQA.
"It is with a heavy heart that I announce my wife Pauline's decision to step back from all professional and commercial duties due to her diagnosis of dementia in 2021," said Steve Sheen.
"Pauline has been an inspiration through her work in the film and TV industry, her charity endeavours and as the founder of the very successful Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA)," Mr. Sheen added.
