The City of London Corporation has initiated a campaign to remove e-bikes causing obstructions and safety hazards. Over 100 bikes were confiscated in two weeks, prompting operators to improve fleet management and encourage responsible parking. The Corporation has established agreements with hire operators and committed to adding 300 new parking spaces. Collaboration with companies like Lime, which also plans a safe riding campaign and contributes to parking infrastructure, aims to balance bike usage and public safety on the streets of London.
I recently met with the CEO of Lime, along with their CFO and UK Director... Lime has seen remarkable success... but so too are the challenges posed by bikes cluttering our pavements.
The City Corporation already has agreements in place with hire operators around where people should park bikes, but in response to the scale of complaints received, introduced its own clean-up campaign.
