Two lines in Kensal Green have reopened after a 2 million upgrade, promising fewer delays and smoother journeys. The 16-mile railway stretch in north London saw improvements impacting Bakerloo line stations like Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone as well as Overground stations including Euston and Watford Junction.
The upgrade work involved renewing power systems, installing new cables, and upgrading critical components like the conductor rail and track switches. Network Rail mentions that the previous equipment was reaching the end of its life and needed immediate attention to avoid potential failures.
Gary Walsh from Network Rail thanked passengers for their patience during the upgrade work, emphasizing the importance of the project for safe and reliable rail operations between Euston and Watford. London Overground's Rory O'Neill also acknowledged customers' patience during the disruption, ensuring more reliable journeys in the future.
