At around 12.15pm on Sunday, 28 July, police and London Ambulance Service were called to reports of a collision between a car and four pedestrians on the A24 Merantun Way Despite the best efforts of emergency services, one of the pedestrians, a 49-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver stopped at the scene and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Three other pedestrians were taken to the hospital, where their condition has been assessed as not life-threatening.
Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of the collision. The investigation is led by officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Merton. No arrests have been made.
