The collision occurred on the R448 at Smithstown, Mullinavat in Co Kilkenny on Monday at around 9:30am, resulting in the death of a male driver in his 70s.
The local coroner has been notified, and arrangements for a post-mortem examination are underway. Gardaí closed the road for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision and request any road users with camera footage from the area around that time to come forward.
