Nearly 500 Elizabeth line drivers are going on strike in February and March
Briefly

Members of the Aslef trade union, representing nearly 500 drivers on the Elizabeth line, are set to strike for four days between late February and early March. This action, which follows a rejection of a 4.5% pay increase from management company MTR, indicates ongoing tensions over driver compensation. Aslef's general secretary highlighted the significant contribution of drivers to the line's success, while MTR's managing director expressed disappointment over the union's rejection of the pay offer, which he described as among the highest in the industry. Potentially affected stations span from Abbey Wood to Heathrow Terminal 4.
Nearly 500 Elizabeth line drivers are walking out for four days at the end of February and into March after Aslef members voted overwhelmingly in favour of taking industrial action.
Mick Whelan, Aslef's general secretary, said: 'Our members have been instrumental in the success of the Elizabeth line but, despite our best efforts, MTR has decided not to recognize the input, the importance, and the value of train drivers in this success.'
Mike Bagshaw, managing director for MTR Elizabeth line, said: 'We are disappointed that drivers on the Elizabeth line have rejected a 4.5 per cent pay rise and voted for industrial action.'
