New tech on the Elizabeth line shows which carriages are quietest
Briefly

The Elizabeth line has implemented a system for showing train crowd levels, which currently operates above ground, aimed at enhancing passenger experience. By utilizing live load weight data received from Class 345 trains, the service helps passengers choose less crowded carriages, ultimately improving comfort during journeys. New LB Foster Inform totems have been introduced across several stations to assist customers with multimodal travel information and service updates during disruptions. This innovative feature will soon be available on third-party applications, ensuring enhanced accessibility to train service data.
A few weeks ago, the Elizabeth line started showing information about how crowded each train is, although at the moment, this is only at some stations.
The live load weight data will help customers see how busy each carriage is and should help them pick a quieter carriage.
The new LB Foster Inform totems delivered to Custom House, Paddington, and Stratford will allow customers to plan national rail and multimodal journeys.
This data is then prepared and sent to Darwin, where it is processed by different customer information systems.
