Super sewer: Thames Water customers will pay 25 annual levy for another two decades to fund 4.5bn project

Thames Water customers will face a £25 levy on their bills for another two decades to repay the £4.5bn cost of the super sewer project.

Andy Mitchell, Tideway's CEO, stated that the project will drastically reduce raw sewage in the Thames, describing its financial arrangement akin to a mortgage.

New public piazzas along the riverbank, including the larger Bazalgette Embankment, aim to honor the legacy of Victorian engineer Joseph Bazalgette.

Mitchell emphasized the continued legacy of Bazalgette, expressing hope that the spaces created will provide enjoyment for many decades to come.
