The Pedicabs (London) Bill empowers TfL to regulate rogue pedicab drivers, aiming to align their operations with other forms of transport in the capital.
TfL has assured that the new regulations are being developed to last effectively for years to come, highlighting the need for thorough preparation.
Commissioner Andy Lord confirmed that proposed regulations will enter public consultation early next year to gather feedback before parliamentary submission.
Once enacted, the regulations will allow TfL to impose fines up to £2,500 on non-compliant pedicab operators and regulate fares similarly to black taxi cabs.
