The Thameslink railway line through central London has reopened after a significant closure during the Christmas period for extensive track replacement works, ensuring improved service reliability.
David Davidson, Kent Route Director for Network Rail, stated that the previously installed rails had become worn after 13 years of service, necessitating the installation of new tracks to prevent delays.
A significant amount of scrap rail was recycled, demonstrating the commitment to sustainability alongside the improvements made to drainage and railway infrastructure at major stations.
