"Unlike its neighbour, Legado is actually pretty huge inside, with a bar, The Taberna, at the front, opening out into a double-height room, with a sloping glass ceiling, open kitchen and two large seating areas. Nieves herself had a big hand in the design, bringing in touches like Catalan floor tiles and the decorative iron railings leading up to the mezzanine level."
"From the snacks we enjoyed the scallop, served in a herby vinaigrette almost ceviche-style; the oblong of golden buttery brioche topped with soft smoked cheese and Cantabrian anchovy; and the 'Quisquillas', raw blue prawns with crispy fried heads. We also tried the lamb neck empanadilla, which came with a lovely little pot of rich gravy for dipping; the chargrilled leeks escabeche; and the oozing skate wing tortilla with mojo verde."
Nieves Barragán’s restaurant Legado has opened in Shoreditch next to Singburi. The interior is large, with a front bar called The Taberna leading into a double-height room with a sloping glass ceiling, open kitchen and two seating areas. Nieves contributed to the design, adding Catalan floor tiles and decorative iron railings to the mezzanine. The menu is personal and memory-based, divided into six sections including Fish and Seafood, Poultry, Vegetables and a dedicated suckling pig and Iberico pork area. Dishes range from ceviche-style scallop, brioche with smoked cheese and Cantabrian anchovy, and raw blue prawns, to lamb neck empanadilla, chargrilled leeks escabeche, skate wing tortilla and a mushroom rice topped with chargrilled Iberico pork. Desserts include churros with dulce de leche and an apple empanada.
