Gatwick Airport has implemented a new security policy that allows passengers to keep their liquids and electronic devices in their hand luggage while passing through the security scanners. This change is made possible by the installation of advanced 3D computed tomography (CT) scanning technology. Passengers are reminded to adhere to the 100ml liquid limit but no longer need to use clear plastic bags. Despite this progress, travelers should note that many airports worldwide have not yet adopted these changes, and traditional rules may still apply upon return from different destinations.
Cyrus Dana stated, "More than 95% of passengers already pass through security at Gatwick in under five minutes," highlighting efficiency along with safety in the security process.
The advanced CT scanning machines represent a significant technological upgrade for Gatwick Airport, allowing for liquids and laptops to remain in hand luggage during security checks.
