An online debate on Reddit's r/AskBrits highlights the distinctive traits of Londoners, revealing habits and characteristics that signal someone's origin. Users shared that Londoners tend to be escalator-savvy, standing on the right and looking critically at those who don't conform. There's also a noticeable aggressive driving style typical of Londoners, contrasted with a more courteous approach in other regions. These behaviors are often surprising to newcomers, indicating a cultural difference that suggests not only where one is from but also reveals the frenetic pace of London life.
Watch them on an escalator. You'll either know by what they are doing, or the way they are looking at other people who are not doing what they're doing.
I often find myself outside of London asking why the f**k people are standing next to each other on the escalator. It takes me a minute to realise they're not being a*******s, they're just not from London.
I think Londoners (and I am one) typically drive more aggressively. In other areas of the countries I've found drivers far more courteous.
I moved here from Canada and found it such a culture shock.
