The Barbican Centre could be getting a new 21-storey neighbour
Briefly

Redevelopment of One Silk Street is underway following the relocation of Linklaters. Proposed by Kanda Consulting alongside various architects, the new office structure will rise 21 stories and will feature cultural and amenity spaces. However, residents have raised concerns regarding potential loss of sunlight and increased noise. Many favor retrofitting the existing building over demolition, citing structural issues hindering renovation options. The developers are currently collecting feedback for ongoing progress, with public consultations available until February 24.
The feedback hasn't been all positive, as some locals have concerns over the height of the new building, as well as how it could block sunlight and lead to increased noise.
Residents seem keen on retrofitting the existing building rather than tearing it down and starting again, but the development team isn't so fond of this idea.
