BT could face action from managers over pay
Briefly

BT is facing backlash from its line managers over inadequate pay raises, coinciding with increased dividends for shareholders. The Prospect trade union expressed that the company’s offer of merely 1.28% for most managers was insufficient and below inflation rates. After line managers rejected this offer, the union declared a formal trade dispute. Notably, some BT employees expressed dissatisfaction with the line managers for previously supporting management decisions contradicting worker interests, casting doubt on their solidarity in the current dispute.
"BT's decision to increase its dividend at the same time as giving a derisory or non-existent pay rise to managers shows the disregard they have for Prospect members," Deputy General Secretary Rachel Curley wrote.
"If an acceptable offer does not materialise in the coming weeks, we will be looking at all options available to us," Curley said.
"They did what the company told them to do: harassed engineers during the strikes we took part in for better pay and to protect our jobs," one BT engineer told us.
"So I am not bothered one bit. If they want to make a stand as a union, then get on with it. I doubt they have the guts to take any action."
