On a Thursday morning, firefighters responded to a fire at the Pacific Dining Car restaurant in Westlake, which has been closed since 2020. Although significant damage occurred to the attic and roof, the building did not collapse, and no injuries were reported. Firefighters contained the blaze within 45 minutes, while investigators worked on determining its cause. This site, designated as a historic-cultural monument in 2023 by the Los Angeles City Council, was previously known for its fine dining and appeared in various films.
Once inside, firefighters determined the fire started in and damaged the attic along with the roof of the structure.
