The review will assess compliance with consumer-protection laws. Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara emphasized the need to protect consumers from delays and uncertainties. Many residents, like Andrew Wessels, reported significant delays and multiple claims adjusters, leading to frustration over reimbursement issues. State Farm has stated it is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, asserting that many customers are receiving satisfactory help from the company.
"No one should be left in uncertainty, forced to fight for what they are owed, or face endless delays that often lead consumers to give up," Lara said.
"I'm happy to hear the commissioner has chosen to look deeper, but I'll believe stuff when I see it on any of these things," said Andrew Wessels, a survivor.
