Former Angels infielder David Fletcher bet with an illegal gambling ring in Southern California, not placing bets on baseball but on other sports.
Colby Schultz, a former minor league infielder and a friend of Fletcher, participated in the same gambling ring, betting on baseball games including Angel games.
MLB has not previously investigated Fletcher's gambling but may do so now, while Ohtani's interpreter Mizuhara was involved in the same illegal operation for which he faces legal consequences.
