Vinícius Júnior celebrated Real Madrid's advancement in the Champions League after defeating Manchester City 3-1 at the Bernabéu, following a first-leg victory. This came after City fans mocked him with a banner referencing Rodri's Ballon d'Or win, which he and the Madrid team snubbed. Vinícius, who assisted Jude Bellingham's crucial goal during their playoff, expressed that such provocations motivate him to excel on the field, showcasing his determination and passion for the competition.
Following Madrid's 3-1 win at the Bernabéu that saw them go through to the round of 16, Vinícius posted "Okat, okay, okay" on X accompanied with a crying emoji.
Vinícius told Movistar after last week's game, "I saw it [the banner]. But when opposition fans do things, it always gives me more strength to play a great game."
The banner was in reference to Rodri beating the Madrid forward to the prestigious individual award conferred by France Football in October last year.
Vinícius made a key contribution in the first-leg of the tie, setting up Jude Bellingham's last-gasp winner at the Etihad.
