Goalkeeper performances at United, including Altay Bayındır in the Premier League and André Onana in the Carabao Cup, have been inconsistent and costly this season. Talks for Senne Lammens of Antwerp remain ongoing but there is concern that the deal could collapse. United have contacted both Villa and Martínez's camp to prepare a swift move if needed. Martínez is a World Cup winner and a highly regarded, commanding presence. Aston Villa are reluctant to sell late in the window.
